Never been in a pub named after him that was decent.

Admittedly, only tried the Birmingham and Durham ones.

Tis now the very witching time of night,
When churchyards yawn and hell itself breathes out
Contagion to this world:

Now could I drink hot blood,
And do such bitter business as the day
Would quake to look on.

How fucking good is that? Find me a better few lines about wanting to do bad things (and there's plenty out there) written in the last 500 years and I will give you your money back.

No, Twelfth night is one of funniest things I've seen.

Romeo & Juliet has spurned many stories based on it.

Thomas Middleton wrote or co-wrote some of Billy Shakespeares stuff.
Son of a bricklayer

wiki
Middleton wrote in many genres, including tragedy, history and city comedy. His best-known plays are the tragedies The Changeling (with William Rowley) and Women Beware Women, and the cynically satirical city comedy A Chaste Maid in Cheapside. Earlier editions of The Revenger's Tragedy attributed the play to Cyril Tourneur,[5] or refused to arbitrate between Middleton and Tourneur.[6] However, since the statistical studies by David Lake[7] and MacDonald P. Jackson,[8] Middleton's authorship has not been seriously contested, and no further scholar has defended the Tourneur attribution.[9] The Oxford Middleton and its companion piece, Thomas Middleton and Early Modern Textual Culture, offer extensive evidence both for Middleton's authorship of The Revenger's Tragedy, for his collaboration with Shakespeare on Timon of Athens, and for his adaptation and revision of Shakespeare's Macbeth and Measure for Measure. It has also been argued that Middleton collaborated with Shakespeare on All's Well That Ends Well. However, these latter collaborative attributions are not universally accepted by scholars.

Re: Is Shakespeare overrated?
I wouldn't say that Shakespeare didn't write all the stuff but I'm sure he borrowed from other playwrights and actors he met on the way.

Still relevant and speaking to audiences 500 years later. No, not overrated. Productions all over the world, every day of the week. Most prolific playwright cinematically too. Oh….and English.

Re: Is Shakespeare overrated?
Was woke before his time. I mean even up to the 1980s where would you find a black man in a lead role?

In fact he's a very cosmopolitan writer for his time which makes me doubt he wrote all the stuff attributed to him.He wasn't much of a traveller.

More of a Ben Jonson fan. Bartholomew Fair's a great yarn.

Kit Marlowe had some good stuff but was a bit of Queen.

Nah Ben's yer daddy.

Not sure if this is the source of this but Jim Broadbents character in the new film The Duke (activist and abysmal Geordie playwright steals portrait of Duke of Wellington from the National Gallery in 1960).

'Too fond of his Kings' he says
Prefers Chekhov
